Kind Is the New Classy The Power of Living Graciously eBook Candace Cameron Bure Ami McConnell Reviews
- I grew up watching Full House and loved that show! I didn't care if the episode airing on TV was a repeat; I watched it because that show was amazing! In case you aren't already aware, Candace Cameron Bure played the character Donna Jo (DJ) Tanner, the eldest of the Tanner sisters. I knew that, in addition to starring in the show Fuller House, she had also written some books but I knew nothing about them. Then I saw this new book. Kindness has always been something that's close to my heart and I've been working on it even more this year! I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book so I ordered the hardcover copy since I have a friend who likes to read the same books as I do and I often lend her my books. Plus I had a feeling this book wouldn't be just a one-time read!
Kind is the New Classy is a Christian-based inspirational book written by Candace Cameron Bure, who is very strong in her faith and someone we can all learn from! This book is about more than just being nice to people and moving along with your day. Kindness is a lifestyle choice, one that has many benefits to everyone involved when used to its full extent. Kindness isn't only about being kind to others; it's also about being kind to yourself and once you do that, showing kindness will come more naturally to you.
In this book, Candace teaches us what kindness looks like and the many ways you can extend kindness to others as well as yourself. She includes many anecdotes about the ways she has shown kindness and how she's learned from her life experiences. She includes many stories of her time on Full House, Fuller House, and The View and I feel that we really get to know her as a person, not just a celebrity. When she tells these stories, she includes many Scripture references and it's evident she's extremely strong in her faith.
This book is 266 pages long and is divided into ten chapters and also includes two appendices. It's categorized as a biography/autobiography book and I'd like to add that it's very much a religious and inspirational book as well. There are many, many times when Candace talks about God and includes Scripture and I loved this. It's such a breath of fresh air when you discover a celebrity who is so strong in their faith and true to themselves no matter what.
Words cannot describe how much I LOVE this book! I cried during several parts of it because it's clearly written from the heart and I could feel my emotions stirring many times while I read it. I've learned a lot from Candace and I want to re-read this book again and again so I can learn even more about a topic that I'm so passionate about! I've already recommended it to others and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn how the power of kindness can affect everyone's lives. Buy this book for yourself. Buy it for a friend. I don't buy as many books as I used to since I borrow many from the library and many books I only read one time but this book was worth every penny I spent and then some! I've already ordered another one of Candace's books and want to read everything she's written. I admire her for her courage to stay true to herself and for writing such an amazing and powerful book! - I know it is difficult for some people to get comfortable with Christian enthusiasm. That being said, there is a wonderful message in this book about women treating one another with grace and kindness. Jesus taught people to treat one another this way. Even if you don't believe Jesus is the son of God, it is a wonderful way to approach life. Wouldn't we all be much happier living this way rather than feeling anger and frustration. You do not need to be a Christian to embrace this message. Thank you Mrs. Bure for sharing you're perspective during such difficult times. This is a wonderfully, upbeat and thought provoking book.
- I feel bad leaving only 2 stars. I wanted to love this book just because of all the praise it was getting. I read a lot of Beth Moore books and was hopeful that this book would be similar. I will say that the first few chapters are great and it was a page turner for a bit. But somewhere in the middle it lost me. It bounces all over the place and doesn't have a nice flow to it. This is more of like an autobiography. Now I'm not saying that's a bad thing.. but the title us somewhat misleading. Instead of the front cover saying "The Power of Living Graciously" it should say "How Canadace Cameron Bure Lives Graciously." As this book was more of her talking about how nice she is.
- I am not one to read anything by Hollywood celebrities. Normally I have no interest in celebrities and how out of touch with the real reality of middle class America they are. However, for some reason I purchased and downloaded this book and was not disappointed. Kind is the New Classy The Power of Living Graciously is an excellent read! Candace is spot on about how being kind and gracious changes everything. This is a very basic act that has been lost in the social media frenzy. I know we ALL fail at this sometimes, but it's hard to "see" that you are a Christian (speaking of those who are, myself included), when you treat people with rudeness, unthankfulness, ungratefulness, etc. It breaks my heart (literally), it crushes me to see this over and over again, especially with those close to you. God's Word is very clear on how we treat people, no matter what you think about them. If Christ truly lives inside you and you claim to love Him, then you will love others just the same as He loves! So thank you Candace Cameron Bure for this refresher on the lost act of being kind and gracious!! I highly recommend this book and plan on reading it again. Romans 129 starts out so perfectly....Let love be genuine, verse 10 states - with brotherly affection. You can't do that without the Holy Spirit!
- Wasn't sure if I would like this book, can't stand preachy ones or those who imply they are perfect. But with so much anger, rage, social media bullying, and CLASSLESS people, today I thought I'd give it a read. Not for influencing others but to find a calm and peace in myself AND I LOVE IT. Candace does NOT preach and odes NOT imply she's perfect in fact she shares finding her grace by sharing HER LEARNING EXPERIENCES. As we grow and age we should never stop learning. Part of that is to see behaviors and characteristics in others that WE DO NO LIKE and also to see behaviors and characteristics in others that we do like. Recognizing both we can examine ourselves and work to banish the behaviors we don't like and integrate the ones we do like into ourselves by understanding why we like them and how to feel them and change to better ourselves. THIS BOOK helps do that by the way the author shares her growth and experiences. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS AS A SELF AWAKENING READ.
- A must buy! A great book for women. Candace offers a great insight on living in today world. I have practiced some of the tips and tricks mentioned in her book. Guess what? They work! I felt as if she personally wrote the book for me. Give it a try!
