"The biggest flaw with this calendar is that the top half of the month is the back of the page of the last month. The paper is so thin that when you flip it to the next month everything you wrote last month has bled through the page rendering the new page useless. I even tried writing with the lightest pen and you could still see it. Also for August, the top half of the calendar is a different color and texture from the bottom half. That was pretty tacky. Another problem is that the writing is so light that you can't see it well unless you are close. My family likes to put ours on a central wall. We need to be able to clearly see the days from across the room. Dark ink for the numbers would be much better. The idea behind this calendar is good, but the actual product was poorly executed. There are much better calendars out there. This one was a big disappointment and waste of my money."

• Hands down my favorite calendar-I have been buying it for years. Even in this digital age this is the hub of our family and where we all look to see where we need to be! All the stickers have been updated and some new ones were added.
  Reduced amounts of 'family vacation', 'vet', 'no school', and '1/2 day of school'.
  Newly added are 'girl's night', 'date night', 'concert', 'rehearsal', and 'volunteer'. (sorry, guys, no boy's night for you.)
  I included pics marked 'old' and 'new' to compare. The calendar itself appears unchanged.

• I have bought this calendar for many years. I am a mom of four kids and there's a lot that I like about this guy.
  
  1. It's big, but not too big. It's not like you've hung a desktop calendar on the wall, but it is larger than a 14X14 standard calendar. Each square has multiple lines to provide a lot of space for writing all kinds of events. It fits on the side of my fridge, and I use strong magnetic clips (two) to hold it up. It CAN be heavy, but I tear out the sticker pages and I distribute the weight evenly vs. hanging it on the first month with all other months hanging below it.
  
  2. It's not limiting. Other calendars that are intended for families come color coded, and I find the color-coding limiting. I have some kids that have more activities than others, and the frequency of each person's events ebbs and flows with the months. With no color-coding I can opt to color code myself, or just use the lines as I see fit. It also does not have cheesy monthly themed graphics-- it's very straightforward! It's simple. It doesn't change my decor or add anything to it or draw attention to itself.
  
  3. The stickers. This year they updated the font and the icons and they're really cute! I always do a nice job using the stickers when I get the calendar, but it fades for me as the months go on, but my intentions are sound!
  
  The only thing I would change is the line spacing-- for my handwriting, it's a little too spaced and I end up squishing two lines of my writing within the spacing provided.
• This is a nice, large calendar. The open dimensions are approximately 14" X 22" which is larger than some of the other family planning calendars I've had in the past. I thought I would miss having a separate line for each family member but I don't think that's going to be a problem with all of the space on each day. The stickers that are included seem to be more useful than some of the others I've had as well. For instance, there's many more dentist stickers (we're a family of 5 and need them) as well as many school and sports event related stickers. There's also several "to do lists" that you can easily remove and fill out and a place to write down the dinner for each night. There isn't a pouch in the back for papers, however this year I had so many school papers in my other calendar's pouch that it was literally falling away from the wall. So, the pouch doesn't seem to work well anyway. Overall, I would recommend this calendar and will plan to buy it again in the future.

• Hogan's book is a short, but comprehensive analysis of the golf swing. His stated purpose of giving the average weekend golfer the tools to develop a repeatable golf swing has, in my opinion, been met. The fundamentals he espouses are few, and simple enough to implement without causing one to overthink. I found his views about grip and stance, and their importance in setting up the rest of the swing, particularly helpful. If you're a student of the game, this book is a prerequisite before reading the multitude of expert analyses of Hogan's swing that are available elsewhere. The advanced golfer interested in developing his/her knowledge of shaping shots and ball flight won't find information here. But if you're like me and want to develop better consistency of contact with all your clubs and eliminate anxiety as you stand over the ball, then this book is for you.
• I'm a novice golfer that has been away for the sport for several years. Getting back into it I wanted to find a resource that took a simple and direct approach to the golf swing. I think I have found it. In a sea of technology, social media marketing and five steps programs to driving the ball 300+ yards, this book gets right down to business and what the golf swing is really all about. If you take the teachings and then go online and see the many slow motion videos of Mr. Hogan's swing, then you can really see how it all comes together. And the illustrations in the book are very effective and well done too. I'm a visual learner, so that was important to me. Lastly, I'll say that I love the way this book is written. Somehow it seems to give you a sense not just about the swing, but about the man behind perhaps the most beautiful swing in golf history. Very beautifully executed book.
• This book, while it maybe old, provides the fundamentals of a golf swing (i) the grip; (ii) stance and posture; (iii) the back-swing; and (iv) the downswing in an easy to understand way. I started reading this book in 2003 when started back into golf after a 7 year break (college and law school) and wish I had known about the book when I first started playing. I took about 5-7 strokes off my game immediately and now (2019) after another 10 year break (wife, kids, work) I picked up the book again and started to notice a similar result. My shots are producing a better strike and follow through. If you do nothing else, the grip section of this book is worth every $ you spend and more as I do not believe you will get a better lesson on your grip which I believe was one of the major reasons my game improved. I highly recommend this book and for the money, it is probably one of if not the most efficient ways to improve your game.
• Combating a little a stationary small ball with a stick for the purpose of sinking it in a hole 400 yards away with hazards to avoid on the way is a fascinating concept of a game to anyone beside golfers. Hogan went through how he mastered, if there is such a thing as he puts it, the game over decades of learning, practicing, and improving. Before I took golf at a later age I calculated how many strokes of 7 iron I need to do a 6000 yard course. The answer of course is 40 shots. I doubled that for putts and goofs which makes it 80. I thought there isn't much to master that game and it has been my daily challenge for 20 years. The book shows 8 specific motions to do that. Success is not guaranteed though. Very enjoyable reading.
• This is the only thing a golfer needs to read...i am sure there are things in here that do not apply to all golfers..but in general, this is the golf swing. You can spend thousands of dollars on lessons, aids, etc...( I know because i did!) and then come back to realize this is every bit of all that..condensed into a short book. I also learned the hard way that my parents knew what they were talking about! (Of course that cost me quite a bit more than golf did...but I'll,write that book review if my Dad can come back from beside the good lord and write it!)
• This book is all any starting novice golfer will need for proper instructions on full swing. For short game, I will recommend Getting Up And Down by Tom Watson. I found numerous videos for tips in Youtube largely useless or misleading especially for the novice. To learn powerful and repeatable full swing, this book is best because it explains all the steps from the grip to downswing as one coherent system that is what Mr. Hogan refers to as chain actions. Having said that, this book elicits some questions, as well. For example, though Mr. Hogan devoted Chapter 2 to stance and posture, unexplicably he does not talk about how to address the ball in detail. In two other equally great books, Getting Up And Down by Tom Watson and Golf My Way by Jack Nicklaus, the authors emphasize address should reflect so called hitting geometry in which the hands are ahead of the ball location. The reader of this book can only guess what Mr. Hogan's thought might be on proper address from one of the illustrations in the book, where remarkably to me at least, the club is held almost perfectlly vertical (pg. 24)! I can confirm the same vertical address in numerous videos of him. Another example is the position of the grip at the top of backswing that he aptly refers to as the crossroad. He emphasizes in this book the left arm and grip should stay in the backswing plane which is a plane extending through the shoulders and the ball at address. This is a point I found very useful and follow. However, it is widely known that, as a player, his grip at the crossroad was far below this plane (shown in iconic Aug. 8, 1955 Life Magazine cover) and, as a matter of fact, one of the flattest of all PGA pros according to Jack Nicklaus. I wonder therefore whether his emphasis on supination (counter-clockwise rotation of the hands/wrists in the hitting area) is a way to compensate for his low top position. The starting golfers however should not mind this discrepancy. Instead they should focus on his teaching in the book to stay on the backswing plane and that will work nicely. All in all, I have no doubt this is the first book any starting golfers should read and refer to whenever questions arise as they practice full swing. They will benefit immeasurably.

• "Tavern" has a lot going on - guilds, assassins, blackmail, and more! If you're a fantasy fan, you'll probably feel at home within these pages. It's fantasy through and through, yet it doesn't fall into many of the common pitfalls or follow the overused fantasy cliches. Very creative all around. My biggest problem with the book is how long it takes for anything to happen. There were probably a couple of dozen times that I straight up skipped two or three pages and didn't miss anything of interest - sometimes, characters take like five pages just to walk downstairs. The author really likes his descriptive prose and knows how to abuse the life out of it. At the best of times, this wordiness was a mild annoyance, but at worse it took away any sense of urgency or danger and made it difficult to connect with the current ongoings. Some people are into pure prose, but I prefer larger helpings of plot. If such things don't bother you, you can probably get a good deal of enjoyment from this book. Even if it DOES bother you, you'll still probably have a decent time.
• Just finished reading this, and I can't wait for more from this author! It's now well past my bedtime, and I'm all hyper and giddy from reading such a good story. Definitely getting a physical copy to add to my collection ASAP!
• Good book, I am a picky reader but I really liked this.
• Deston Munden sets up an amazing ensemble cast of characters led by an extremely endearing orc (not something you see often too, an orc as our main hero and protagonist!). Xel is a strong character who feels very real and leans on his friends when he needs to but can hold his own...even if it takes some convincing that he is good enough to do so! There's also a nice bit of different types of representation in this book as well ranging from POC, WOC, LGBTQIA, and neurodivergent characters! The main character himself struggles with anxiety often and doesn't "magically" get over it by manning up or finding a magical plant or anything.
  
  The action and fight scenes are beautifully crafted with each character bringing their own unique fighting style and abilities to the stage, a real treat for those of us who are fans of the Legend of Korra and Avatar the Last Airbender.
  
  If you're a fan of video games from Bioware, you will also enjoy how the characters interact and banter with each other. Along with how each character has their own "quest" or side mission that they help Xel with. Rynn has her specialty as does Wil and as does Char, so on and so forth.
  
  The ending is satisfying and leaves enough room for future installments (as the title does say Dargath Chronicles 1). I look forward to seeing more about Xel and crew in the future! Consider me a fan for life! I will be purchasing any and all future Deston Munden novels for as long as he is going to write them!
• This is the author's first book. It's pretty obvious. Many sentences are short. This interrupts the flow of reading. It's jarring to read short sentences. Especially when there are a lot of them. Mild spoilers may follow this sentence.
  
  The book starts with the main character returning home from an event that occurred that is probably central to the plot. He has an encounter on his way home, and the following day he asks someone for help in determining the cause of the event. The MC heads out to get some lunch--and now we are ten percent of the way through the novel.
  
  Basically, the author needs to tighten up the prose. We don't need a description of the flowers, clothes and correspondence in his room if all the MC does is enter, sleep and leave. There's a lot of this going on and it distracts from moving things along, not to mention the proliferation of terse, short sentences that make the book read like a cheap detective novel.
  
  This is the author's first published work and I don't want to be overly negative, although I realize this review is pretty harsh. Hopefully future works will be a smoother read.
• This book was a hit for a family member who loves this genre. He told me he could not put it down. Found out about this book on reddit. I was told it’s fantastic and a total page-turner.

• Meh, this book is pretty bland.
  As I skimmed it, there doesn't appear to be anything poor in it's theology. That's a plus.
  
  But considering the book it titled Visual Theology I sort of expected, you know, visuals.
  Is it more graphic than a typical Systematic Theology book? Oh for sure.
  But is it visually graphical in a meaningful depth? Nope. Not even close.
  I expected some pretty versions of some complex theological concepts, however there were essentially none.
  If I were to be very lenient in my expectations, there were a few. But they weren't anything noteworthy that just screamed out as a perfect illustration of what they were conveying.
  
  I really wanted to like this book. I did.
  But there really isn't any content there to match the title.
  
  On the plus side, it does have some very good and practical basics of Christian thought.
  It is too light to be "systematic theology" but it is a good overview of many topics.
  It seems to hit the major points in what it is to be Christian, who Christ was, what sin is, etc...
  
  Photo examples
  The Table of Contents shows the extent of the entire book
  
  Chapters typically have icons or an icon based chart/illustration in the beginning, then each section that talks about that point has the icon as the header. I've included multiple examples as to how they handle this method through the book.
  
  Lastly, I included one image from Wayne Grudem's Systematic Theology.
  If you've ever read large systematic theologies you know there are rarely images or illustrations.
  Here is one that I feel is what I was looking for in this book (but obviously of higher quality).
  I really think if Visual Theology was full of images that illustrated and conveyed complex theological concepts in an easily digestible manner (such as the hypostatic union example) this book would have been a home run.
• Before I write too critically, I confess that few people, myself included, could do any better with such a novel concept. Challies is a talented writer with solid theology. Byers is a talented graphic artist with a great sense of content and style. But the book does not merit the title. More honest would be "Theology With Lots of Wordy Pictures". But to TITLE it "visual theology" is misleading at best and a poorly focused marketing trick at worst. The book does not satisfy. If you want a visual book, this one is not the title to buy. Slick marketing does not overcome the misleading title.
• Challies and Byers introduce Visual Theology by saying, “we live in a visual culture, increasingly relying on infographics and other visuals to help us understand new and difficult concepts.” Challies and Byers are spot on with this need and the first thing that struck me about their book is how aesthetically pleasing its production was. I try to buy as many books as I can via today, but was glad in retrospect to be unable to purchase this book in that medium. The book is well designed and even the feel of the pages makes a reader happy.
  
  That said, the title itself is a bit misleading. The book wasn't visual in the way I anticipated nor was it theology in the way I anticipated. Once I re-calibrated my expectations as I read the book I was much happier, but I do wonder if the title will make more readers than just myself surprised by the contents. The visuals are almost mostly word art, with some infographics thrown in. Depending on your tastes, this might be disappointing. It was to me. That isn't to say that some of the art isn't very helpful (Byers infographic on the books of the Bible with information about date of writing and authorship is fantastic, for one), but that at least to me a fair portion didn't inspire or lead me to a deepened understanding as I would have hoped.
  
  Likewise, Challies's writing (which he fully acknowledges) is not attempting to plunge deep, but rather sweeps through four basic categories of becoming and living as a Christian (1) Grow Close to Christ, (2) Understand the Work of Christ, (3) Become Like Christ, and (4) Live for Christ. Unsurprisingly given that division (but surprising to me given the title) the book is much more practical and basic than intellectual and historical.
  
  Far and away my favorite section was found in the first part of "Becoming Like Christ" where Challies as clearly as I've heard anywhere explains how we destroy sin in our lives. It is an excellent practical and succinct contemporization of John Owen's "Of The Mortification of Sin." This section alone makes the book well worth reading and using.
  
  I hope to use Visual Theology (particularly the section just mentioned) in counseling as well as in some introductory classes. Additionally, I hope the book finds its way into the hands of many as a first introduction to practical theology. Finally, I do hope for more books to be written in this vein. I would love to see, for instance, a book where Makoto Fujimura or Bruce Herman partnered with a theologian to provide a more abstract and contemplative take on the same premise.
• I am a visual person (hence my attraction to this book) and one thing in the writing style is a constant speed bump. The authors do not capitalize pronouns relating to the Godhead. I see lowercase he and I have to pause for a split second to mentally correct this and to double check that they are indeed referring back to God.
  
  The material is clear, consice and well written. The ideas are simplified for clarity be not watered down.
  
  There are not graphics for every idea or even every page. Each chapter has at least one chart, graph or other illustration and many have more than one but the majority of the information is conveyed in texts with the graphs functioning as references &/or sum nay. The text is well laid out, labeled with a color coded system for easy reference and to help sort and categorize the information.
  
  Overall, I am learning much and not only enjoying the format but also learning and retaining more because of the graphics.

• This is the best book in my opinion for learning about the kernel! Even if you are doing driver development or just embedded system work, I highly recommend this as the text for learning the linux kernel. It goes over the scheduler, how processes are represented, memory management, devices, system calls, and many kernel data structures. Each topic is covered quite well with relevant CODE and information. Very straight-forward. He does an amazing job of explaining the modular structure of kernel and how most things are implemented as modules / pseudo-objects.
  
  Really gives the tools you need to know to be an effective developer. This book helps me understand the dryer, wordier, less clear, out-of-date, Linux Device Drivers. Full disclosure have not completely finished reading the book, but I am more than a third the way through!
• I was shopping for a good overview reference book of the Linux kernel, I did not want too much depth into each component, what I wanted was a "brief" overview of all the different components. If you're looking for depth into each module, then this is not the book for you. If you're interested in Linux and want a good overview book that you can finish quickly and have a working knowledge of the different components and how they tie in together then this is a great piece. I think "Linux Device Drivers" by Corbet is a better reference if your interest is strictly device driver and "Understanding Linux Networking Internals" by Benvenuti is better if you want to know more about the IP stack. Overall Robert Love goes through kernel development at a great level for an overview with just enough depth and enough examples. I use the book not every day but I often have it on my desk for reference.
• I wish I had this book when I was going through my Operating Systems undergrad class, or any time after that, but I'm glad I finally discovered it. It clears up so much about Linux that is usually just glossed over in a lot of other documentation. It goes into enough depth to make diving into kernel-level or system-level code less overwhelming.
• It's like having an expert whispering the answers to me.
  
  I favor books. Books are often rigorously peer reviewed, coherent, well indexed, useful both as a reader and a reference.

• Good and simple explanation of linux kernel. Good place to start if you want to understand how linux kernel works and start working on it. The only downside it's sometimes boring to read about all structures - but I guess it's because my intention was to understand concepts behind it not to fork and make changes.
• This book is a great book, but it has a limited scope. So it is not a programmers reference, and it should not be bought with that in mind.
  
  However, this is a great high level discussion of the kernel and its implementation. And what really makes it great is the fact that you realize that Love know his stuff and he has a great writing style.
  
  He does cover the major system components with a great high level description, and more important, he gives a great analysis of issues, both design and some implementation. His overview of the CFS is the best of any I have seen. And this can be repeated most topics he covers in this book.
  
  The index is excellent.
  
  After reading this book I would love to go to a seminar given by Love. His presentation skills are probably better than his writing skills.
• About one year ago I was browsing the univerity book store, not really knowing what I was looking for. Being all fed up with math thesis stuff I was certain that I wanted somthing practical and funny to read. By chance I saw a book called "Linux Kernel Development". At first I did not give it much attention because normaly writing kernel code does not make me relax at all. When I was leaving the book store, curiosity took over and I decided to find out who the author was - expecting to see some no name punk I was really surprised that it was Robert Love, known of much programming fame in the kernel community. Naturaly I bought the book, read it in 2 days and I loved it. Here for the first time was a book that precendet the art of kernel programming in an easy, understandebel and about all funny way. This was 2004, last week I discovered that a second edtion was out. I quickly bought it on and while I loved the first edition I must admit that this one is even better.
  
  Robert takes you gently but thoroughly through most of the facets of kernel programming, including system call registration, coding guidelines, synchronization and the VM layer. This is a great book which while being short and precise still manages to get you hacking on the kernel without suffering two much headache. The only thing I feel is missing is a chapter or two devoted to debugging the kernel - but in that regard one could also pickup "Linux(R) Debugging and Performance Tuning " by Steve Best which is a complete book on the fine art of bug/bottleneck hunting. Anyway this is one of the best written tech book I have ever had the joy of reading and it fully deserves to be put next to computer science classics such as "Introduction to Algorithms" and "The C Programming Language".

• Grandin continues his top notch contributions to understanding the Americas with this excellent work of living history.
  To understand the role that the wall plays in American politics, you have to understand the frontier. From the point of contact, the American mind was created in the psychological expanses of land and the pathological attempts to clear it of its native inhabitants. The frontier created a safety valve for every displaced urge and the vitriol of the colonizers, a valve that has remained in place since.
  Grandin traces all of these steps and I can't do this excellent book justice in a short review, but I can say that this must be read. There is a reckoning that is long overdue in this country about the very nature of "freedom" and what that actually means. As it has been understood and enacted, it is a product of the frontier, of might makes right practices of displacement, exclusionism, and unrepentant expansionism. That is what fueled the white supremacy that underlies our contemporary reality, which is a wound time hasn't healed, but reopened. Because there has been little to no acknowledgement of the racist, colonial realities of America, in both history and in the mind, these things foment into populist distractions. The wall never needed to be built, whether it eventually is or not. It just had to represent the shift in the American mind from the end of the frontier to the constantly redefined and militarized edges of a globalized empire.
  Excellent companion and follow up to Richard Drinnon's classic 'Facing West.'
• A lyrical tour de force—at once synthetic and polemical. Grandin identifies a key thread in American history and follows it in broad strokes, but every chapter also includes great and surprising details. Among other observations, I was struck by how he was able to make Andrew Jackson’s politics comprehensible (and yes, reprehensible), and his analysis of NAFTA and its relationship to both American ideology and to the increasing narrative of crisis at the Mexican border will be invaluable for future historians and activists and critics too.
  
  There are excellent reviews out there on the internet—read the one by Jed Purdy—but I will add one note this book does assume some basic knowledge of history on the part of the reader. Figures like A. Philip Randolph and organizations such as the IWW are name dropped without any background info, so it may help some readers to have Wikipedia preloaded. Nevertheless it’s undoubtedly a worthwhile read.
• I feel like I have just completed two good books on different topics, one on the frontier and its impact on American thought and development, and the second on Trump's border wall. The first is far better. I don't buy the intersection between the frontier and the wall.
  
  Personnaly, I like Grandin a lot. I've now read five books by him and find his mix of history and politics to be provocative and stimulating. But he may not be to everyone's taste. Reagan and Bush fans may enjoy parts of it, but If you voted for Trump you may not be able to handle it

• This is a carefully researched book and a brilliant analysis of the frontier and the wall in America. It should be required reading for all high school and college students. Grandin, who is a professor of history at Yale, takes the reader from the destruction of American Indians to the Trump While house without leaving anything out along the way. Its not a pretty trip, but he offers fabulous insights into how we got to where we are in 2019.
• I haven't read the book, tho after listening to the interview with the author on WNYC radio's On the Media program, I certainly intend to, but I did think, after listening to the adverts of that interview and the book, of how Hadrian's Wall, constructed in the 2nd C circa 125 AD, serves as a symbol which essentially marked the end of the expansion of the Roman Empire and the beginning of its lengthy constriction, how it marked a change in the mindset motivating that empire to protect what was instead of ever more expansion, and how the Trump wall fiasco is motivating the current US direction of looking inward instead of outward and onward.
  After all, as pointed out in the interview, Trump himself has proclaimed, "America first" which is a viewpoint, while not completely differing from anything previous, the way Trump couches its meaning, is far more limited than that which preceded, marked to my mind by our treatment of Europe post WWII. In order to benefit ourselves, we contributed largely to Europe's reconstruction to give our markets a means to benefit ourselves, and at the same time benefit the Europeans and the world.
  The Trump doctrine, stated in person just this week, is to withdraw aid in an attempt to force countries in duress to curtail the flight of their citizens towards the US.
  Thus, I think this book is uniquely timely and look forward to adding to this review.
